The Romblon State University held a historic turnover ceremony for the new University President, September 30, 2020.
The program formally proclaimed Dr. Merian Catajay-Mani as the new RSU President after Dr. Arnulfo De Luna relinquished the leadership affirmed by the symbolic handing over of the University Maze.
In the ceremony, a recap of Dr. De Luna’s 8-year term highlighted his accomplishments while some colleagues and employees expressed their great experiences under the leadership of Sir “Pong”- as he is fondly called.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mani, in her emotional acceptance speech mentioned several inspirations including Dr. Jeter Sespeñe who she described to have trained her to be the President that she is today.
“In an era where there is an increased distrust in higher education, it matters that we show what a functioning and equitable University is like,” said the incoming President.
Dr. Mani is now the 6th RSU President after her 8-year stint at the Marinduque State College. It is remembered that Dr. Mani is the only MSC President whose term has been renewed by virtue of excellent performance.
The program ended with an inspirational message by Odiongan Municipal Mayor, Hon. Trina Alejandra Firmalo who shared her desire of continuous partnership with the University.
