Romblon State University President Dr. Merian Catajay-Mani visited Canada as part of the CHED PH Mission team headed by CHED Commissioner Aldrin Darilag, CHED IAS Director Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla, and Canadian Embassy to the Philippines Trade Commissioner Angel Cachuela to participate in the British Columbia International Education Week (BCIEW) program in Whistler, Vancouver from 26 to 29 of June.
The British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) organized the British Columbia International Education Week (BCIEW), the first education week held as an in-person event that provides excellent international education (IE) opportunities and professional development, particularly for the Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs).
The said partnership mission aims to bring together HEI International Relations Officers (IROs) and IE leaders to learn the best practices of HEIs in Canada to improve potential areas of Philippine education like engineering, education, agricultural sciences, human resource management, technology, nursing, and others.
During the mission, the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) International Secretariat, Vancouver Community College, and BCCIE arranged a networking event to give Philippine and Canadian institutions the chance to talk about potential bilateral collaborations and institutional visits to select Canadian institutions.
This networking event was also organized prior to and after the BCIEW program in Vancouver and Calgary from 23-25 June and June 29 to July 2, respectively where the Philippine delegates have further opportunities to showcase their university in building new networks and partnerships and to get the most recent trends and developments in international education in British Columbia territory.
The CHED PH Mission 2022 was organized by CHED International Affairs Staff (IAS) under the directorship of Atty. Lily Freida Milla and Trade Commissioner of Canadian Embassy-Manila, Angel Cachuela. RSU President Mani was accompanied by the university Chief Administrative Officer, Atty. Glenn Nino Sartillo and Engr. Reynaldo Ramos, Director of International Linkages and External Affairs Office (ILAO).
