The Department of Education in Romblon province started to distribute 5G-ready simcards to all teaching, non-teaching personnel in all the district offices and schools in the division of Romblon.
According to a Memorandum from the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) released on July 1, permanent, contractual, local government unit-paid personnel working under DepEd schools and offices are eligible to receive sim cards.
The distributions started last week amidst the bad weather.
According to DepEd Romblon, the team headed by Mr. Joseph Gerard Malaya, Supply Officer-Designate, braved the rough seas in order to personally bring the connectivity benefits of teachers just in time for the end of school year activities and in preparation for the opening of school year 2021-2022.
The simcards will have a 34gb data allocation upon activation and must be activated on or before Friday, July 30 for the the continuity of monthly data subsidy.
According to Schools Division Supt. Malou Servando, the Schools Division Office of Romblon should be proactive in delivering its services to all the teachers and learners of the division.
She believes that this connectivy load allowance provided by the Central Office will be helpful for teachers as they prepare their lessons and as they participate in various webinars for curriculum and professional development.
Sim cards that are not distributed to schools and SDO personnel by the end of July 2021 will be returned to the Division Supply Officers for appropriate accounting. The same applies to the Regional Supply Officers for regional personnel.
