Due to the spike of Covid-19 cases in the town of Odiongan, mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic on Wednesday re-imposed liquor ban until April 23.
In an executive order, the mayor said that there is an urgent need to impose a liquor ban in Odiongan to prevent the exposure of individuals to the Covid-19 virus through drinking sessions with persons from other households.
On Sunday, the mayor said that some of the patients get the virus after attending a drinking session with a person who later tested positive for Covid-19.
The mayor also said that it has been observed that selling, serving, and consumption of liquors and other similar intoxicating drinks encourage close contact gatherings.
The liquor ban takes effect from 5 PM of April 14 until 12 AM of April 23.
Establishments that will be caught selling alcohols including violators will be subject to ‘one strike rule’ and will be penalized based on pertinent Municipal Ordinances.
