The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Romblon has distributed over P13 million in cash assistance to approximately 2,216 beneficiaries in the island municipalities of San Jose, Concepcion, Corcuera, and Banton over the weekend.
According to Abegail Fetilo, head of the DSWD office in Romblon, the funds were sourced from various programs, including the Kapos ang Kita Program, the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families, and the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS).
Leading the distribution were DSWD officials alongside Romblon’s top officials, including Congressman Eleandro Madrona.
In her message, Fetilo expressed hope that the financial assistance would provide significant relief to recipients, helping them address their immediate needs.
Meanwhile, the provincial government, headed by Governor Jose Riano, also distributed financial support to Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Child Development Workers (CDW), solo parents, and scholars in a simultaneous initiative.
The distributions are part of ongoing efforts to provide much-needed assistance to Romblon residents, particularly those from vulnerable sectors.
