The Department of Agriculture Mimaropa, in collaboration with the Philippine Rice Research Institute (Philrice), extended a helping hand to farmers in the municipality of San Jose, Romblon.
On Monday morning, a total of 130 bags of palay seeds were distributed to 40 farmers, enabling them to commence their planting season despite the looming threat of El Niño.
The distribution of palay seeds aims to support local farmers in overcoming the challenges brought about by the dry spell.
In a statement released by the Philippine weather bureau last week, the phenomenon’s possible effects on the weather and on the country’s water resources will be felt until next year.
