The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Mimaropa region will conduct its 26th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) at the City College of Calapan this coming November 14.
According to PSA Mimaropa Regional Director Leni R. Rioflorido, PSQ is a nationwide annual contest designed to test the knowledge of statistics of freshman students enrolled in colleges and universities in the 17 regions of the country. Its primary objective is to assess the competency and skills of freshman students in statistics as acquired from the secondary education curriculum and to generate public awareness on the importance of Statistics in all development-planning activities and win overall support for all government statistical activities.
The 26th PSQ identifies and nurtures talents, especially in the field of Statistics. It contributes to the advocacy of the use of Statistics for evidence-based decision making.
Participating schools in this year’s event are the Marinduque State College (MSC), Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC), Mindoro State University (MinSU), Palawan State University (PSU), Holy Trinity University (HTU) and Romblon State University (RSU).
All PSQ Regional Champions will be awarded PSQ Medal and a Certificate of Recognition during the 26th PSQ National Finals. Likewise, their coaches will be given a Certificate of Recognition. The college or university where the 17 26th PSQ Regional Champions are enrolled, as well as the high school where they graduated, shall all be awarded a Certificate of Recognition. The top five winners in the 26th PSQ National Finals shall be given a PSQ trophy. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
