Due to the intensified drive against wanted persons, Police Regional Office Mimaropa, under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Sidney Hernia, captured two of the top ten most wanted persons (MWPs) of Mimaropa Region on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in Oriental Mindoro.
Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office Director Police Colonel Renante Cabico revealed that Joriel Brito Rafer, 27, listed as the region’s top 2 MWP, who hails from Barangay Melgar B, Naujan, of the said province, was arrested in a law enforcement operation led by Naujan Municipal Police Station together with the personnel from the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and Provincial Intelligence Unit, under Oriental Mindoro PPO; Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4B; and Regional Intelligence Division 4B in Barangay Conception, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro at around 1:10 AM.
In a separate operation on the same date, Orlando Javier Gacad, 48, listed as the region’s top 6 MWP, was arrested by the personnel of Victoria MPS and 1st PMFC, under Oriental Mindoro PPO in Sitio 2, Brgy. San Narciso, Victoria, of the said province at about 8:40 AM.
Both Rafer (3 counts) and Gacad (4 counts) have pending warrants of arrest for Rape, issued by the Family Court, Branch 12 in Naujan town, with no bail recommended.
The arrested accused are now under police custody for turnover to the issuing court as soon as possible.
The data from the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division revealed that PRO Mimaropa had already recorded 356 apprehensions of most wanted persons (MWP) since January this year; an increase of 38.52 percent as compared to the 257 MWP arrested in the same period last year.
PBGen Hernia lauded the operating units for their accomplishments in the PNP’s intensified campaign against wanted persons.
“I commend the operating units in these operational accomplishments. It only manifests our commitment to pursuing criminal personalities wanted by law in the region”, PBGen Hernia remarked.
