The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended assistance to more than 2,700 farmers in the towns of Sta. Fe, Alcantara, and Looc who have been adversely affected by the African swine fever (ASF).
Abegail Fetilo, the Social Welfare and Development Team Leader, shared in an interview with PIA Romblon that a total of Php 6,084,000 was disbursed on December 14.
The financial aid was sourced from the congressional initiative fund of Congressman Eleandro Jesus Madrona and the fund requested by Governor Jose Riano from DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
DSWD aims to alleviate the economic impact of ASF on local farmers, providing them with much-needed assistance during these challenging times.
