A band launched in Romblon province is getting its way to stardom as they join elite lists of Filipino artists being featured on the streaming platform, Spotify.
The Quadrate, a band based in Odiongan, Romblon, just reached 20,000 plays on Spotify and is about to reach the 30,000 mark with their hit single entitled “I remember”. It was featured on Spotify’s OPM Rising playlist in the January of this year.
In an interview with TAD Network, Kim Lester Casimero, one of the original members of the band, said that they started as a four-man acoustic band performing in different gigs in Odiongan town. When two of the original band members left, Kim decided to form a full band with the same name.
In December 2022, the group, now composed of Mary Joy Candido (vocalist), John Michael Ballovar (vocalist), John Dale Tiburania (guitarist), Kim Lester Casimero (keyboardist), Mark Severino (lead guitarist), Christian Santillan (drummer), and Era Garachico (bassist), recorded the song “I remember”, making it to the OPM Rising after a month.
“Unexpected talaga e, kasi unang-una hindi naman ganun kalawak ‘yung influence ng Quadrate at the moment. Very local lang talaga kami, dito lang talaga kami sa Tablas. Very unexpected siya na napapasama siya sa Spotify playlists tapos umabot pa ng 20,000 streams. So overwelming ang pakiramdam dahil first time namin magkaroon ng verified account,” according to John Michael Ballovar.
Quadrate is set to release new single these coming months.
“Meron kaming two songs na plan i-release, sana ngayong March ‘yung isa. Then ‘yung music video ng ‘I Remember’ ay mailalabas namin ngayong February,” Kim Lester Casimero said.
