The Sangguniang Bayan of Corcuera Romblon on Wednesday conducted a public hearing and consultation on various resolutions and ordinances including the renaming of the town to Municipality of Simara.
In a Facebook post, the Sangguniang Bayan, said that this is for effective and efficient governance for the benefit of the general public.
The said public hearing was attended by all Punong Barangays and representatives of different National Government Offices, Civil Society Organizations, and other concerned sectors.
In an interview Wednesday evening, Corcuera Vice Mayor Aubrey Fondevilla, said that the resolution, set to be passed next session, will be forwarded to Congressman Eleandro Madrona including the joint resolution that will be passed by the Barangay captains.
The said resolution passed the committee level, and consultations are done according to the vice mayor.
She also added that the people responded positively to the idea, as the town is better known by the name Simara than Corcuera.
