There is something beautiful about the question Jesus asked: “Who touched Me?”
He already knew who had touched His garment. He knew her story, her suffering, and the faith that brought her into the crowd. Yet He still asked.
Maybe Jesus wasn't looking for information.
Maybe He was giving her a moment to be seen.
For twelve years, she had carried more than an illness. She had carried a label. To others, she was unclean. Her condition had become the first thing people saw when they looked at her.
She could have remained hidden in the crowd, quietly receiving her healing and walking away.
But Jesus called her forward.
He didn't want her to leave thinking she was simply someone who received a miracle. He wanted her to know that she was more than what she had been suffering from.
The crowd saw a woman who touched Jesus' garment. Jesus saw a daughter.
Sometimes, we also allow our struggles to become our identity.
We begin to define ourselves by our failures, fears, disappointments, or the words people have spoken about us. We may feel like our past has already decided who we are.
But Jesus sees deeper than our labels.
He sees the person behind the pain. He sees the heart behind the silence. He sees the faith we carry even when we are tired.
And when the world makes us feel invisible, Jesus reminds us that we have never been invisible to Him.
The woman came seeking healing, but Jesus gave her something deeper.
He gave her recognition.
He gave her dignity.
He called her daughter.
And maybe that's what someone needs to remember this Sunday.
Before we are defined by what we have accomplished, what we have failed at, or what we are going through, we are known by God and loved by Him.
You may feel like you're just another person in the crowd, but Jesus sees you.
He knows your story.
He knows what you've been carrying.
He knows the battles you've never told anyone about.
And He is not asking you to hide behind a label.
He is calling you closer. 🤍
So, if you've been feeling forgotten, rejected, broken, or unworthy, remember the woman who reached out to Jesus in faith.
She thought she was only reaching for the edge of His garment.
But Jesus was reaching back—not only to heal her body, but to restore her dignity and remind her of who she was.
She was not just the woman with an illness.
She was His daughter.
And so are you.
“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
— Luke 8:48
May we never allow our pain, our past, or other people's opinions to become the final definition of who we are.
Jesus sees you. Jesus knows you. Jesus loves you. And He is calling you closer. 🤍
