One rainy afternoon, Maxwell Laurent stood by the window, watching the rain pour outside. He had been looking forward to playing with his friends, but the dark clouds had other plans.
“Why does it always have to rain when we have something planned?” he asked his grandmother.
She smiled and said, “Sometimes, we become so focused on what the rain is stopping us from doing that we forget what the rain is making possible.”
She pointed outside. The plants were drinking the water. The soil was becoming softer. The trees looked refreshed.
“The rain may interrupt your plans,” she continued, “but it doesn't mean the day has lost its purpose.”
Sometimes, our lives feel the same way.
We make plans. We pray for certain things. We imagine how our story should unfold. Then suddenly, something changes. A plan doesn't work out. A door closes. We are asked to wait longer than expected.
And just like the rain, we may find ourselves asking, “Why now?”
But perhaps an interruption is not always the end. Sometimes, God uses the waiting season to refresh us, strengthen our roots, and prepare us for what comes next.
Flowers do not resist the rain. They simply grow through it.
In the same way, we may not always understand why certain seasons come into our lives. But we can choose to trust that God is still working, even when the skies are dark and the path ahead is unclear.
If you're going through a “rainy season” today, don't lose hope. The circumstances may not change immediately, but remember that the rain will not last forever. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep holding on to God's promises.
There will be brighter days ahead.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
— Psalm 30:5
May this Sunday remind us that even cloudy days have a purpose, and that after every storm, there is always a reason to hope.
Stay safe, stay dry, and keep the faith. 🤍
