Odiongan Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic has refuted claims that the local government has a ₱150 million debt with Landbank of the Philippines for the construction of the new government center in Brgy. Dapawan.
The issue began when a fake Facebook account circulated misleading screenshots alleging that the municipality had taken out a substantial loan. To counter these false claims, the mayor released official documents on her Facebook page, including a certification from Landbank, verifying that Odiongan has no outstanding debt.
Mayor Firmalo-Fabic called the misinformation a desperate attempt by individuals hiding behind fake accounts to mislead the people of Romblon. She clarified that the funds for the new Odiongan Government Center were sourced from various government agencies, senators who supported the project, and party-list groups committed to the town’s development.
Mayor Firmalo-Fabic stated that this is a desperate attempt by individuals using fake accounts to mislead the people of Romblon.
She urged the public not to fall for false information and to stand for the truth, emphasizing that political deception does not benefit the province.
“Let us not be deceived by fake accounts. Let’s stand for the truth. This kind of political deception is not what our province needs,” the mayor said.
