Some 1,543 low-income earners in Romblon received financial aid through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) on Thursday, September 5,
Abegail Fetilo, the Social Welfare and Development Team Leader in Romblon, said that beneficiaries came from the towns of Odiongan, San Andres and Ferrol. The AKAP fund for the beneficiaries here came from the congressional fund of House Representative Camille Villar.
Accordingly, each beneficiary received P5,000 cash aid which can be used to cover their daily needs, including food, education, and healthcare.
Of the cash receipients, Odiongan town has 1,1145 benefficiaries; Ferrol-175; and San Andres-223.
During the distribution, Romblon Lone District Representative Eleandro Madrona acknowledged that there is still much work to be done to address the needs of Romblon’s residents.
He also noted that the DSWD is in the process of finalizing the list of beneficiaries in seven other towns, where residents have yet to receive AKAP assistance from the agency.
Earlier, DSWD also distributed AKAP assistance to 3,988 low-income earners from the towns of San Agustin, Romblon, Santa Maria, Calatrava, Santa Fe, Alcantara and Looc.
Madrona attended the distribution event along with other provincial and local government officials of the province.
