A farmer in Ferrol, Romblon, was injured after being beaten by another farmer during a heated argument over irrigation in their rice fields in Barangay Agnocnoc.
According to the Ferrol Municipal Police Station, the victim, Nixon Gumboc, 55, and the suspect, Gerardo Mago, 58, got into a disagreement regarding the irrigation system for their fields.
The argument escalated when Gumboc allegedly threatened Mago with a bolo knife. However, before Gumboc could draw his weapon, Mago picked up a stone and struck Gumboc on the head, causing him to fall to the ground. Taking advantage of the situation, Mago grabbed a piece of wood and repeatedly hit Gumboc on the head.
Gumboc was rushed to the Rural Health Center for treatment, where he received 27 stitches for his head wounds.
Mago fled the scene immediately after the incident but was later arrested by police.
