The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Romblon recently held the second leg of its PIA Barangay Forum in Barangay Matutuna, San Andres, Romblon, attended by the local fisherfolk.
The forum featured representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – Romblon, who provided insights into the services and programs available to the fishermen. Danny Domingo, BFAR’s regulation officer, explained the maritime laws that fishermen must follow.
Police Corporal Lawrence Faderogaya from the Romblon Maritime Police Station discussed the requirements for registering boats with their office and the benefits this registration brings to the fishermen.
Additionally, Captain Elena Gebaña, OIC of San Andres Municipal Police Station, shared data on the peace and order situation in San Andres during the forum.
The event aimed to disseminate information about government programs that can assist the public in their daily lives.
