The 1st Bicol Saro Cup has officially commenced in Brgy. Agnipa, Romblon, Romblon, drawing significant attention due to the inclusion of high-profile import players. Organized by Rep. Brian Yamsuan and Brgy. Captain Andres ‘KapJo’ Mangaring Jr., the tournament features a lineup of talented athletes that promise to elevate the level of competition.
Each of the participating teams—Agnipa, Bagacay, Palje, Ilauran-Mabuhay, and Auckland—has secured two import players, bringing a mix of professional experience and youthful energy to the court. This strategic move aims to enhance the tournament’s quality and attract a larger audience.
For the Agnipa team, former MPBL player Jerome Garcia and college basketball player Hamadou Laminou will be showcasing their skills. Bagacay has enlisted former PBA player Dylan Garcia and college basketball standout Donald Tankoua, adding significant prowess to their roster.
Palje’s team features varsity player Ike Akpuro and former MPBL player Orin Catacutan, both expected to make substantial contributions. The Ilauran-Mabuhay team will see Leo Esquerra and Adrian Eneria in action, bringing their competitive edge to the games. Meanwhile, Auckland’s lineup includes Jay Managaytay and Mico Garcia, who are set to boost their team’s performance.
The champion team will receive P250,000, with the 1st runner-up earning P170,000, the 2nd runner-up P120,000, and the 3rd runner-up P60,000.
