Romblon State University (RSU) announced on Wednesday that the university had received an “unqualified opinion” from the Commission on Audit (COA) for the first time in history.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of RSU’s information and communications technology modernization program, where an audio-visual presentation mentioned the COA’s unqualified opinion.
In a press release, RSU stated that RSU President Merian Mani was ecstatic upon receiving the report.
“When I became President of RSU, my challenge to the accounting office was to get an unqualified opinion because that was the legacy I left in Marinduque State College. But it took us three years to be able to get such an opinion from COA,” Mani said.
According to COA, an unqualified opinion is issued when the auditor concludes that the financial statements are prepared, in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework.
