Romblon State University (RSU) is currently probing into allegations made by a hacker group claiming to have targeted the university’s local server, potentially compromising the personal data of students and faculty.
Sherryll Fetalvero, a representative from the office of the RSU President, confirmed that an urgent meeting was convened on Tuesday morning to address the alleged breach.
According to reports, data purportedly uploaded by the DeathNote Hacker Philippines on April 29 includes sensitive information such as student names, IDs, and contact details, as well as faculty records encompassing employee IDs, contact information, and employment history. Additionally, administrative records were reportedly exposed.
The hackers also purportedly divulged allegations of misconduct involving a faculty member and highlighted concerns regarding unchanged class schedules amidst the challenges posed by the El Niño phenomenon.
RSU is expected to release a statement regarding the incident.
