The 2024 Provincial Athletic Meet has boosted the economy of Cajidiocan town on Sibuyan Island, this year’s host, according to Mayor Greggy Ramos.
“This opportunity will help our business establishments generate more revenues. Many businesses are benefiting, providing earning opportunities for many people,” Ramos stated.
He noted that tourists contribute to the revenue of different sectors including the transportation, market, fishermen, and farmers.
Ramos highlighted that during the previous hosting of their town, they also experienced economic growth even after the event.
“I studied this. Seven years ago, after the provincial meet here, businesses boomed. This means many businesses flourished and continued to grow, with a lasting effect,” Ramos said in Tagalog.
Ramos claims that his town is the only fourth-class municipality in the province to host this event.
