The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Odiongan District Jail (ODJ) in Romblon continues its skills training program for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
According to JO1 Tita Balleras and SJO1 Riza Fetalvero of ODJ, the skills training program is conducted inside to prepare PDLs for potential livelihood opportunities upon their release.
They cited several success stories from ODJ’s livelihood program, such as furniture products showcased at the Odiongan Agri-Trade Fair. Some former PDLs who completed the skills training now work in other provinces, earning more.
“This is significant for PDLs because it not only supports their basic needs but also helps their families,” Balleras said.
BJMP also collaborates with other government agencies like the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority to provide skills training and national certification to PDLs.
