The SUWECO Tablas Energy Corporation (STEC) has announced a scheduled 12-hour total plant shutdown set to take place on Saturday, August 19. This move is expected to impact thousands of residents on Tablas Island who are serviced by the Tablas Island Electric Cooperative (TIELCO).
The plant shutdown is scheduled to commence at 5:00 AM and is anticipated to last until 5:00 PM on the same day.
In a letter addressed to TIELCO, STEC elaborated that this planned shutdown is a critical component of their Plant Preventive Maintenance program. The focus of this maintenance effort is the replacement of three genset units with brand-new ones.
Moreover, the scheduled power outage provides an opportunity for TIELCO to carry out necessary line maintenance work across the entire island.
TIELCO encourages its customers on Tablas Island to make necessary preparations for the temporary power interruption during the specified hours.
Residents and businesses alike are advised to stay informed about the scheduled shutdown and plan accordingly to minimize any potential inconveniences during this period.
