A wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the bravery of the soldiers who died during the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea was recently held in Alcantara, Romblon.
The activity was part of the local government unit of Alcantara’s commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea.
A thanksgiving mass at St. Thomas de Villanova Parish Church kick-off the commemoration, followed by a parade to the Battle of Sibuyan Sea Historical Landmark.
Students from different public schools in town attended the event.
The Commemoration of the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea is celebrated annually to commemorate what happened during the second world war where the American and Filipino soldiers showed bravery in 1944 against the Japanese who had a fierce clash in the Sibuyan Sea.
