As typhoon Quinta and Rolly dumped heavy rains and strong winds that resulted to massive flooding and destruction of crops and livelihood to the communities of the island province of Marinduque, Ambagan PH a non-profit, non-stock organization which aims to promote volunteerism and cooperation among Filipinos spearheaded a call for donations for typhoon affected communities in the province.
Ambagan PH, a network of volunteers formed to respond in crisis situations and help the vulnerable sectors of society partners with Alpha Phi Omega, a service oriented fraternity and sorority with established alumni association in Marinduque in coordination with the Office of the Vice Governor Romulo A. Bacorro Jr to aid families greatly affected by recent calamities.
Dubbed as, “#AmbaganTayo: Operation Bayanihan for Typhoon Affected Communities” the group was able to distribute more than 800 food packs, vitamins and medicines, vegetable seedlings, reading glasses and slippers to different communities in the province. Meanwhile, Vice Governor Bacorro as an alumnus of Alpha Phi Omega also conducted a free cyst operation and oplan tuli as part of the ”ambagan” efforts.
“With the help of our “Ambagan”, we have reached communities devastated by typhoons Quinta, Rolly and Ulysses in Isabela, Cagayan, Montalban, San Mateo Rizal, Marikina, Marinduque and Bicol, as we are facing an extraordinary hard time, our poor countrymen are the ones affected by the series of deluge, typhoons and floods in the middle of the pandemic. The success of our project is proof that in times of crisis, no small or large contribution, all contributions are great.” Said Angelica N. Reyes, co-founder and spokesperson of Ambagan PH in a statement.
Following the #TaraAmbaganTayo campaign, Ambagan PH will launch the #BangonBicol project. Which aim is to support the needs of children from the poorest families in Bicol while rising from the climate change disaster in the midst of the pandemic.
