After four years of being a scholar under Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Workers Organization Development Program (WODP), Charise Amistoso Rivas finally reaches her dream after passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers.
Rivas, a graduate of Bachelor in Elementary Education in Romblon State University, is a bonafide member of Otod Producers and Traders Multi-Purpose Cooperative – a DOLE registered association located in San Fernando, Romblon.
Aside from giving opportunity for systemic learning and growth aiming at greater productivity, prosperity and welfare to the employer, workers’ organization, Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) provides educational opportunities to officers and members including their dependents for self-development, growth and be effective change agent in their organization and in their personal life through a scholarship under the Isabelo de los Reyes Scholarship Grant.
Despite of being maried with children, Rivas was determined to finish her studies, hence her application for WODP scholarship was granted way back July 2015 and until she stepped on the stage for graduation.
During the college years, the department paid the 100% tuition fee including miscellaneous of Rivas and she is also receiving additional Php3,000.00 as monthly allowance and book allowance of Php2,500.00 per semester.
Rivas in an interview thanked DOLE for giving her the opportunity to reach her dreams not only for her but also for her family.
“DOLE has truly been a blessing to my life and to my family. For four years I never missed the opportunity to study well, graduating with a high score and now a full-time teacher. This success was a tremendous blessing from God through the Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA,” she said.
“You are a huge part of my success and I pray to the Almighty that your agency will continue to help those who wish to graduate from school despite the difficulties,” she added.
Charise Amistoso Rivas will now take oath as Professional Teacher on January 25, 2020 in Lucena City, Quezon.
