The Department of Health (DOH) – Center for Health Development Mimaropa finally approved the application of Romblon District Hospital (RDH) for a License to Operate (LTO) as a level 1 hospital, Governor Jose Riano confirmed to Philippine Information Agency – Romblon on Monday, January 06.
This will be in addition to Romblon’s first level 1 hospital, the Romblon Provincial Hospital located in Odiogan town.
According to Governor Riano, Romblon District Hospital, with a total of 35 bed capacity, will be classified as a Level 1 General Hospital after it succesfully meet the guidelines and requirements set by the DOH.
With this new classification, they can now provide emergency surgical care to patients such as cesarean procedures and appendicectomy.
“We can now perform surgery at Romblon District Hospital and we ensure everyone that we have doctors such as general practitioners, surgeons, urologist, anesthesiologist, pedia, and medical officers,” the Governor said.
Meanwhile, Riano also congratulate all the staff and officers of Romblon District Hospital headed by its Chief of Hospital, Dr. Eugene Sionosa.
To recall, the Department of Health thru its Health Facilities and Enhancement Program (HFEP) alloted more than 54-million pesos budget in addition to the Provincial Government’s share to finish the building of Romblon District Hospital.
The construction was finished in early 2019.
