As part of their commitment to end ‘endo’, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the province of Romblon convened employers on Tuesday for a social dialogue on regularization, held at the Dobs Event Place, Tabing-Dagat, Odiongan, Romblon.
The said dialogue, where at least 40 company representatives attended, aims to brief employers on how they will differentiate regular or permanent employment, term or fixed employment, project employment, seasonal employment, and casual employment.
During the discussion, Philip Ruga, Chief of the Technical Services and Support Division of DOLE-Mimaropa, explained that employers can hire employees under probation for the maximum length of six months based on Philippines’ Labor Code.
“Kung ang pagtatrabaho ay hindi natatapos pagkatapos ng anim na buwang probationary period, dapat itong ituring na regular na trabahador (If the employee’s service is not terminated after the six-month probationary period, it should be considered as a regular work),” Ruga said.
He also explained that if the employee is not properly notified with any arrangement or contract, then they are considered as a regular employee from the time they started working, as prescribed by the law.
The other topics discussed during the social dialogue were Expanded Maternity Law, Family Welfare Program, and Labor and Employment Education Services. The Occupational Safety and Health Network (OSH NET) in the province was also re-organized during the event.
