In line with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE’s) mandate to safeguard the worker’s social and economic well-being as well as their physical safety and health, Romblon Field Office in partnership with COSHEMAP, Inc. conducted a 40-hour Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Training from September 23 to 27, 2019.
67 participants were trained and equipped with necessary knowledge and skills in implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the construction industry.
According to DOLE Romblon Field Office Head Sir Roderick F. Tamacay, COSH training is a mandatory course for designated safety officers whose work revolves in safety and health in construction sites. It is a requirement that every construction company has Safety Officer/s to oversee the safety and health in the workplace.
The training tackles key OSH concepts, principles and practices that are foundational knowledge requirements in the construction industry. Specifically, it facilitates learning on the importance of OSH in the construction industry and the use of interventions.
Latest issuances on OSH in the said industry were given emphasis too.
Participants were provided with tips on the development, customization and enhancement of the Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP). DOLE’s approval of CSHP a pre-requisite prior to construction.
