The Regional Development Council (RDC) approved the proposal for the establishment of Niche Center for Marble Research in its recent Full Council meeting.
The proposal prepared by the Romblon State University aims to make the marble industry in Romblon sustainable by conducting researches such as Industrial Product Research and Development from Marble Cutting Plant Wastes, Characterization and Grading of Marble from Different Quarries, and Nanoparticle Additives for Concrete Particles as Additives for Concrete Mixes.
The establishment of the Niche Center is consistent with the ten-point socio-economic agenda of President Duterte’s administration to promote science and technology.
It is also aligned with the strategies of the Mimaropa Regional Development Plan for 2017-2022.
The Niche Center for Marble Research will be endorsed for funding under the Department of Science and Technology-Niche Center for Research and Technology. (Victoria S. Mendoza/PIAMIMAROPA/Quezon City)
