The training on Fruit Processing for Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of Odiongan was conducted to encourage healthy options for snacks, to maximize the abundance of in season fruits and to bolster value adding for the agricultural crops of the province.
The activity entailed lecture and hands-on processing to transfer skills to the beneficiaries.
Outputs were various processed fruits such as dehydrated banana and banana polvoron, processed Indian mango such as jam, hopia, empanada, pie, juice and dehydrated kondol.
Trainers were Romblon State University (RSU) food expert, Mrs. Cita Ylagan, food processor and SETUP proponent, Mrs. Meriam G. Santos, and Provincial S&T Director, Mrs. Marcelina V. Servañez.
The training developed the skill and inspired creativity of the twenty 25 BNS in food processing.
