Inilunsad ng Department of Health – MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) kasama ang National Council on Disability Affairs ang mass electronic registration para sa mga tao na may kapansanan o PWD sa Alcantara Municipal Gymnasium sa bayan ng Alcantara ngayong araw.
Layunin ng pag-paparehistro sa mga may kapansanan ang mabigyan sila ng sapat na benipesyo at sebisyo na mabibigay ng Department of Health.
“We need to have an accurate figure of the current number of PWDs not only in the region but in the whole country as well to be able to provide them (PWDs) the benefits they deserve and address their needs. The projects and programs for PWDs are limited because there are only a few that are listed in the government’s registry,” ayon kay Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo.
“The full 20% discount benefit for their basic needs must be given mandatory and it should be complemented with the implementation of relevant plans that will cater for their necessities such as equal opportunities in medical care services and rehabilitation,” dagdag ni Janairo.
Ayon sa tala ng DOH-MIMAROPA, umabot ng 214 na Persons with Disability (PWD) ang nagparehistro ngayong araw. Ang mga nasabing PWD ay e-rerehistro online at maisasama sa listahan ng Philippine Registry for Person with Disability na denevelop ng DOH.
Mabibigyan rin sila ng Identification Card kung saan maaring maging patunay na rehistrado sila sa listahan ng DOH na makakapag-avail ng mga binipesyo na nararapat sa kanila.
“Persons with disabilities (PWD) have the same rights such as to live the same way as we do and enjoy whatever benefits we reap. Their disability is not a hindrance to live a fruitful and meaningful life. It is for us to provide them the proper motivation and encouragement for them to be successful and become a productive member of our society,“ pahayag ni Janairo.
Ayon sa data na inilabas ng National Statistic Office noong 2013, may roong 1,443 million o 1.57 percent nang populasyon ng Pilipinas ang PWD; 362,113 dito ay mga botante.
