The Solar Energy Systems Project of DOST-MIMAROPA, implemented in collaboration with DOH-MIMAROPA, was one of the finalists in the first Benita and Catalino Yap Foundation (BCYF) Innovation Awards under the Government Service Category.

The BCYF awards aims to honor excellence and recognize innovations that demonstrate breakthrough achievements in Government Service, Tech-Voc Education, Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Agribusiness.

In the awarding ceremony held at the Kalayaan Hall, Malacañan Palace last February 20, 2017, various DOST technologies were recognized for making significant strides in improving the quality of life of every Filipino people.

Department of Health (DOH) – MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo vows more support and benefits including the immediate implementation of significant reforms for the 13,000 strong Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of the region during the First MIMAROPA BHW Regional Congress with the theme “Barangay Health Worker Kabalikat Tungo sa Kalusugan ng Lahat” attended by 200 municipal presidents and representatives held at the Citystate Tower Hotel in Ermita, Manila on April 18-19, 2017.

Department of Health (DOH) – MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) in partnership with Project Red Ribbon Care Management Foundation, Inc. has conducted a 5-day HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome) screening among residents and awareness education for tourists of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro from April 12-16, 2017.

“This year we are focusing on the screening of local residents and encouraging them to take a voluntary screening to be able to know their HIV status and at the same time be given better access to services such as counselling and treatment,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated.
