Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno on Monday ordered National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) to conduct a parallel investigation on possible culpability of police into deaths of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa and Raul Yap inside cell in Leyte last Saturday morning.

Sueno said that NAPOLCOM had the top priority to initiate its own probe in the incident considering that it was the agency mandated under the law to exercise administrative and operational supervision over the Philippine National Police (PNP).

DOH does not see the need for legalizing marijuana; says compassionate use of it is on the FDA law

The Department of Health (DOH) does not believe that legalizing marijuana is necessary in the midst of the claims of actor Mark Anthony Fernandez that he is using marijuana to help prevent cancer.

DOH Secretary Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial said they do not subscribe to the idea of legalizing marijuana in order to provide access to it by those in medical need of the controlled substance.
