President Rodrigo Roa Duterte promised police personnel that the government has employment and education programs in place for their wives and children.

“Our constant worry, not only soldiers. Maski ako, maski ‘yung civilian, our worry is always our family,” President Duterte said in a speech at Camp Brig. Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao on Friday, May 5, 2017.

President Rodrigo Duterte has approved a pension hike for Social Security System (SSS) members along with a corresponding increase in contributions, Palace and SSS officials said Tuesday.

In a press briefing in Malacañang, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the President has approved a PHP1,000 increase for SSS pensioners starting this month.Duterte also approved a 1.5 percent increase in SSS contributions to be implemented starting May 2017 and an increase in monthly salary credit to PHP20,000 from PHP16,000.

132,908 families affected by 'Nina' in 4 regions, 1 death so far - NDRRMC

In its Wednesday update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced that 132,908 families or 602,770 persons were affected by the severe weather conditions brought about by Typhoon "Nina" during its onslaught on Dec. 25 and 26, with one person being reported dead due to the weather disturbance.

These individuals are mostly residents of 785 barangays in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Regions V and VIII, NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad said.
