President Duterte vows lasting peace in Mindanao

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Tuesday stressed anew his promise to the Filipinos that he would secure lasting peace in Mindanao.

“To our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the violence and conflict in Mindanao, I assure you that the government is committed to securing just and lasting peace in the island,” President Duterte said in his speech before an audience of Muslim Filipinos as he graced the Eid’l Fitr celebration held at the Rizal Hall of the Malacañan Palace.

DTI proposes new sampling guidelines for steel products

The Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) has proposed a memorandum circular amending the implementing guidelines for the mandatory certification of steel products covered by Philippine National Standards (PNS) 49:2002, PNS 211:2002, and PNS 657:2008.

The draft memorandum circular (MC) specifies that the sampling size requirements are according to the Internal Organization for Standardization (ISO) International Standard (IS) 2859-1:1999 (Sampling Procedures for Inspection by Attributes – Part 1 Sampling Schemes Indexed by Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection).

DTI charges 127 service and repair shops for operating without permit

The Department of Trade and Industry’s Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (DTI-FTEB) formally charged 127 service and repair shops in the National Capital Region for operating without the required permit.

The DTI- FTEB reported that for the first quarter of 2017, they monitored 219 service and repair shops in the NCR.
