DILG warns public against hoodwinkers seeking OICs in villages

Following the supposed postponement of SK and Barangay elections, Department of Interior and Local Government on Friday warned groups duping individuals to appoint as OIC barangay captains in the municipalities nationwide.

DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno aired this after his office received reports that an organization called the National Interfaith Council of the Philippines (NICOPHIL) was allegedly using the name of the DILG to encourage individuals to submit their resumes as aspiring barangay captains and allegedly seeking Php 50,000 to fill up positions in the barangay.

Catholic prelate is convinced that Pres. Duterte is doing good in his job

A Catholic prelate is convinced that President Rodrigo R. Duterte is doing good in his job.

"I think he is sincere. I think he is doing well... Saka talagang meron siyang objective," said Lipa Bishop Ramon Arguelles.

However, the prelate from Batangas noted that the President's being frank and true is being used by his critics against him.

"'Yun nga lang, ang kanyang mga katabilan at maingay na salita at para bagang inhuman siya e 'yun ang sinasamantala ng iba," Arguelles said.

A lawmaker at the House of Representatives is urging the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte to prioritize fighting hunger and poverty in remote islands to promote inclusive growth.

In a statement on Thursday, Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Ramirez-Sato said that remote islands were highly vulnerable to natural calamities because of their geographical locations.

The lack of access to basic necessities in these remote islands also further entrenched the prevalence of hunger and poverty, she added.
